Central Valley Writers Workshop TV Host Claudia Newcorn is an award-winning author, magazine editor, freelance writer and community columnist. Her award-winning fantasy fiction novels include “Crossover” and “Dark Fire”, from the Krisálys Chronicles of Féyree trilogy. She is hard at work on the third novel, “Firestar”.
An experienced public speaker, Claudia writes regularly for a variety of publications, is a magazine editor, and is a popular newspaper community columnist for The Modesto Bee newspaper. Her published short stories include “A Cat’s Gift of Faith,” in Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover’s Soul, and “The Christmas Tree Nobody Wanted” in Stanislaus Magazine. She won the Golden Poet Award for several poems in the “World of Poetry” in 1986. More recently, some of her poems were published in the new anthologies, More Than Soil, More Than Sky, and Words I Wish I Hadn’t Written.
Claudia was a “global citizen” before the word came about. Although born in the U.S., she grew up as a “transfer kid” moving 36 different times according to her mother’s final count by the time she was age 15 as her family followed her father’s job.
She earned a B.A. in English and Psychology from Wellesley College, an MBA from Northeastern University, and in her corporate career was instrumental in numerous major product launches. As owner of Acorn Enterprises, she provides consulting services to companies in marketing and communications to improve their businesses.
